  1. OK gang, here's a list of the text files on the disk, and a brief description
  2. of each:

  4. TRACKER.TXT - a sales prospecting & tracking system; nice program which is
  5. great for writers too.
  6.  
  7. EPSONLT.TXT - Epson's entry into the laptop race; good but Toshiba, NEC and
  8. Zenith are way ahead of the game!
  9.  
  10. REFER.TXT - A quality, easy-to-use spell checker and thesaurus; expandable with
  11. optional modules, such as Black's Law Dictionary; recommended.
  12.  
  13. MIGENT.TXT - 300/1200 BAUD pocket size modem with fine features; I had no
  14. problems with it.
  15.  
  16. STARNB24.TXT - 24-pin dot matrix printer from Star Micronics; not really
  17. top-of-the-line but a dependable workhorse and good value.
  18.  
  19. PUBLISHE.TXT - Combo review of LOGITECH C7 Mouse bundled with PFS: First
  20. Publisher; a handy pair useful for low-end desktop publishing.
  21.  
  22. SMSS.TXT - A computer conferencing system for well-heeled intellectuals,
  23. operated by a think tank, in La Jolla, CA.  Interesting but EXPEN$IVE system.
  24.  
  25. NEC860.TXT - The middle model of NEC's Silentwriter series of laser-class
  26. printers (uses LED technology, not a laser).  Solid performance.
  27.  
  28. FUNYBOOK.TXT - A Monty Python-ish book called "The Binary Bible."  You will
  29. either love it or you'll find it a bore.  I thought it was quite clever.
  30.  
  31. AMSTRAD.TXT - The PC1512 XT-clone from Amstrad.  PU!  This computer stinks on
  32. ice, and only a bargain if you get one for $395.00 and no tax.
  33.  
  34. KEYBOARD.TXT - Finally a quality tactile-touch keyboard at an affordable price;
  35. Northgate's "C/T" 101 Enhanced model for virtually all XT or AT clones.
  36.  
  37. DATABOOK.TXT - Two reference books on databases; one ("Directory Of Online
  38. Databases") is top quality but I didn't care for the other.
  39.  
  40. BASELINE.TXT - If you are interested in the movie and TV industry and have the
  41. money to spend, this is an excellent online system with Minitel emulation.
  42.  
  43. EQUITY3.TXT - Epson's best AT clone (at this writing); hopefully they will come
  44. out with a 386 clone next; the usual Epson high quality & dependability.
  45.  
  46. STARNX.TXT - A low-priced 9-pin printer with upscale features, including paper
  47. parking, 144 cps draft speed,  and built-in NLQ fonts.
  48.  
  49. CITIZEN.TXT - Citizen's Tribute 124 (24-pin) dot matrix printer with color
  50. capability; emulating an Epson printer, though, is a bit of a hassle.
  51.  
  52. README.TXT - Explanation of why this disk is being distributed.
  53.  
  54. README2.TXT - You're reading this one right now!
  55.  
  56. ADVER.TXT - An ASCII graphic ad for THE WRITE RESULTS.
  57.  
  58. EMAIL.TXT - Opinion piece on why "The E-Mail Revolution Still Needs A Push" to
  59. increase usage, including a survey of computer mags which use online systems.
  60.  
  61. HOWTO.TXT - Review of "Build Your Own IBM Compatible And Save A Bundle." 
  62. Useful reference for new IBM user; forget about building a clone, though!
  63.  
  64. LOTUSBK.TXT - Review of "LOTUS 1-2-3 SIMPLIFIED, 2nd Edition, Including Version
  65. 2.0."  Stupid photos, but judge the informative text for yourself.
  66.  
  67. CADPGM.TXT - A hands-on appraisal of "DesignCAD," a full-featured Computer
  68. Aided Design program for professionals; excellent and reasonably priced.
  69.  
  70. PCPAINT.TXT - PC Paintbrush +, Version 1.50; many new features, such as gray
  71. scale scanning support.  Also commentary on why ZSoft is doing things right!
  72.  
  73. CRYSTAL.TXT - CrystalPrint WP page printer; uses a Casio LCS (liquid crystal
  74. shutter) engine; low-end product with high quality output at reasonable price.
  75.  
  76. OKIDATA.TXT - Okidata Laserline 6 printer; six pages per minute output; 15
  77. resident fonts; easy setup and good control panel.  I give it a B+ grade.
  78.  
  79. ONLINEBK.TXT - Book review of "The Communicating Computer" by Ron Albright,
  80. M.D.  A useful how-to guide to going online, for new to intermediate users.
  81.  
  82. JOBS.TXT - Book review of "Steve Jobs - The Journey is the Reward" by PC WEEK
  83. senior editor Jeffrey S. Young.  An insightful look at the former Apple guru.
  84.  
  85. REMINDER.TXT - A look at a pop-up reminder program called Forget-Me-Not.  It
  86. has its uses but it requires a lot of setup time.  Manual could be better too.
  87.  
  88. MCIBOOK.TXT - Book review of "The Complete MCI MAIL Handbook" by Stephen Manes.
  89. Thorough, easy-to-follow explanations of MCI MAIL & its many great features.
  90.  
  91. OMNIKEY.TXT - An evaluation of Northgate's OmniKey/102 keyboard.  Perfect key
  92. layout and great tactile touch.  Replace that inferior clone keyboard now!
  93.  
  94. EXPRESS.TXT - Lotus Express is a communications program written specifically
  95. for MCI Mail users.  Good idea, but it needs major revamping to be efficient.
  96.  
  97. CORDATA.TXT - A look at Cordata's low-end computer, the WPC Model CS 40.  It's
  98. not a bad XT-clone, but dealers may be hard to find these days.
  99.  
  100. BBS.TXT - An opinion piece which originally appeared under my pen name Julian
  101. Ross in the March 1988 issue of PC WORLD:  "Support your local SYSOP."
  102.  
  103. PCMOUSE.TXT - The PC Mouse II is a high-resolution (2000 cpi) optical mouse.
  104. Great in resolution but a bit clumsy in moving around; stiff buttons too.
  105.  
  106. READABIL.TXT - Readability is a writing style checker.  It analyzes your
  107. writing, and displays the results with graphs and tips.  Interesting program.
  108.  
  109. SIIG386.TXT - Suntek International's 20MHz 386 is a high-performance machine,
  110. but it had a defective 3 1/2" 1.44MB drive.  Otherwise, no problems.
  111.  
  112. WORDFIND.TXT - Word Find is a thesaurus with 220,000 synonyms.  Supports all
  113. popular word processors.  Easy and fun to use.  Recommended.
  114.  
  115. DACLITE.TXT - Dac-Easy Light is an accounting program with full features but
  116. designed for the non-accountant, like most of us!  Good product.
  117.  
  118. T&S.TXT - Twist & Shout prints spreadsheets and text files sideways, and makes
  119. banners.  Well-designed and conceived.  A print spooler is added too.
  120.  
  121. SCANMAN.TXT - The ScanMan hand-held scanner lets you import scanned images into
  122. PageMaker, Ventura Publisher, and most graphics and DTP programs.
  123.  
  124. REFLECT.TXT - Reflection, a graphics conversion program, changes various file
  125. formats into another, such as .MAC to .PCX.  Utilitarian and friendly.
  126.  
  127. PUBPAINT.TXT - Zsoft did a fine job with the Publisher's Paintbrush program. 
  128. Its advanced and powerful features let you create super graphics.
  129.  
  130. PROWRITE.TXT - Professional Write Ver. 2.0 has the features of an expensive
  131. word processing program, and doesn't require days or weeks to learn it!
  132.  
  133. MITAC.TXT - Mitac's Paragon 286VE with 16mhz, VGA & 1MB is a high-performance
  134. machine that outperforms some 386s.  Has Shadow RAM & a QUIET hard drive.
